Strategic Planning
Comprehensive written plan defining the technology requirements in accordance with the business requirements. The plan is a guide for all technology hardware and software requirements, project management, capacity planning, Storage Management solutions and future growth projections.

Specification
The implementation engineering specification describes how TSM will be technically designed to manage the data backup and recovery of your enterprise. This step will also define your hardware, database sizing, tape requirements and other software needs. This step is essential to gaining understanding and approval by the involved parties.

Development
Once a specification is agreed upon, the programming and development of each component is performed and integrated. The development of database, policy domains, storage pools, management classes and other components will be designed to effectively manage your current needs as well as allowing for future growth and changes. This step results in a functional application.

Test & Debug
Upon completion of development, the application enters the beta stage in which it is tested and modified to operate without errors. This step ensures that the application can be safely and reliably used in the production environment.

Documentation
Each project will include three types of documentation: Planning, Implementation and Administration. The planning documentation describes what is to be backed up, how long to retain the data and who shall have access to the data. The Implementation documentation will detail the steps that need to be taken to effectively implement TSM in your environment. The administrator documentation is designed for those who need to maintain the security and support of the application.
